Hawksland deliver first phase of multi-year defence MRO capability transfer programme with its Middle East client

Hawksland’s Programme Management team have just completed the first phase in programme planning for the transfer of defence MRO capabilities from multiple airbases and maintenance centres to a brand new purpose built MRO facility at its client facility in the Middle East.

The new MRO facility needs to be able to maintain over 500 military aircraft across 40+ different platforms. Hawksland put together a highly experienced team of Defence MRO, facilities and operational management experts and developed a comprehensive project management proposal convincing its client that Hawksland were the team of choice to be awarded the assignment. After security and ITAR clearance the team embarked on a comprehensive programme of evaluating the current state of existing operations, capabilities and capacities across multiple locations. Auditing each piece of major MRO and back-shop equipment and logging the entire inventory of tools and capabilities requiring transfer the Hawksland team put together an integrated master project plan for the capability transfer. This included development of a logistics transfer plan, new facilities capability plan as well as interfacing with each project stakeholder responsible for each of the new facilities main functions. Hawksland were also requested during this phase to submit a Forward & Depth white paper identifying the needs of the country’s Air Force in various different fleet deployment missions.

In the next phase of work Hawksland are required to assess each air base in further depth, identify the forward load requirement of the organisation during its black-out transfer period and ensure buffer stocks and advanced maintenance requirement is scheduled. In addition Hawksland will look into ‘leaning-out’  existing MRO value streams and manage the complete transfer of all capabilities until commissioned and certified at the new facility.
